John is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors and Director or Chairman of a number of NZ companies involved in the infrastructure, energy, waste and investment sectors. He was involved in banking in NZ London in various treasury capital market roles for 10 years before returning to NZ in 1991 and undertaking a number of private equity, venture capital corporate finance transactions in NZ Australia.
For 9 years until early 2010 John was Managing Director of Stevenson Group, one of NZ’s largest private companies with more than 600 employees. Richard has significant energy sector experience having been CEO of New Zealand’s second largest electricity and gas lines business and having held executive positions in New Zealand and Australia for more than 12 years. Richard has also served on a number of industry organisation boards and was a former chair of the Electricity Networks Association. Richard is an electrical engineer and is a member of the Institute of Professional Engineers New Zealand and the New Zealand Institute of Directors.
The Lines Company owns and operates the electricity distribution network in the 'King Country' region of New Zealand's North Island. The Lines Company is 100 owned by the Waitomo Energy Services Customer Trust. The company is required to provide a high level of public disclosure of its business activities and each year publishes its Asset Management Plan which gives a detailed breakdown of network assets and projected network requirements. Mr Norriss holds a first class honours degree in electrical and electronic engineering from Canterbury University and is a Chartered Professional Engineer
